2001 Ford PSD
- Power - 10 Gauge Red/Black wire off ignition switch
- Accessory - 16 gauge red/black wire that also is hooked up to the ignition switch.
- Illum - 18 Gauge Blue/Red wire that is hooked up to a brown rectangular plug to the right of the steering column if you are looking towards the firewall.
Volkswagen
2006 Jetta
From William Cox, www.veggiefuelsystems.ca:
I did manage to get the auto Purge Circuit working and the 06's also have a fuel pump in the diesel tank which means a bit more wiring with switched lift pumps. Due to the airbag/security crap under the ignition it is virtually impossible to see the back of the ignition or even which wires are for the ignition or the air bag. Dealer told me any yellow harness pigtails/connectors = airbag = do not unplug!
- In tank diesel pump - Access through hatch under passenger rear seat. 5 wires from a straight pig tail, 2 outside wires are larger, three middle are smaller. Brown larger outside wire is ground for pump. Blue w/Red stripe larger outside wire is 12V power for pump. Cut the Blue w/Red stripe and install the relay here as per the manual for switched lift pumps.
- Illumination Circuit - Remove headlight switch, outer ring on front comes off and you can release the clips from the inside but it is difficult. Access to the back helps! This connector is very hard to probe as it is built on a 90 degree angle. There are 7-9 wires and the upper wire closest to the drivers door worked for our illumination circuit.
- Accessory Wire - Bottom row of the fuse panel on the side of the dash was used for the Acc wire (off/on/off) There was an empty space for us to install our own fuse and fuse tap.
- Power Wire, Auto-purge Circuit - For the Power wire (off/on/on) we were able to find what I think is a main ignition relay. It is on the relay panel under the dash, farthest to the door and lowest to the floor. It has only 2 wires that are visable from the back. Red with Black stripe (always live) and Black (on in run position and while cranking) these are both thick wires. We used a T tap here for our on wire. These worked for our auto purge feature.
Thanks William!
2004-2005 Golf
From Jason Burroughs:
- Accessory - Tap into the windshield wiper wire
- Power Wire - Press a spade connector into the fuse connector just to the right of the windshield wiper (it is only 1/2 a fuse connector)
- You'll need two additional wires (not supplied) to run power from the ignition relay through the firewall, and for the diesel fuel pump power wire from under the hood to the back seat.
2002 Golf
- Ignition - Black/Purple wire coming out of the fuse panel in the cockpit
2000 Beetle
- Power wire - Black with red stripe near ignition cylinder.
- Acc wire - Black with red stripe near ignition cylinder.
- Ignition wiring (see picture):

- Illum - Grey/Violet Striped (22 or 20ga) from the back of the headlight switch.
- Power - YELLOW/RED wire either at back of key module or in engine bay fuse box.
- Acc - YELLOW/PINK, but accessory power does not turn off during cranking so we must create the signal pattern the controller wants to see.
- Use the starter solenoid wire, the violet wire near ECU in engine compartment (passenger side), to power the coil of a relay whose COM terminal is accessory power and NC terminal is output to the ACC terminal of controller.
- When starter is engaged it will interrupt power to controller to create desired signal pattern.
- Connect power terminal of relay to YELLOW/PINK wire coming out of back of key module.
- Relay connections:
| 86/White | Violet starter solenoid wire |
| 85/Black | Ground |
| 87a (NC)/Red | Acc terminal of controller |
| 30 (COM)/Blue | Yellow/Pink wire coming out of back of key module. |
